Himalayan Nettle & New Zealand Wool Fabric, Herringbone; Natural with Cream/Blue stripe
A mix of Giant Himalayan Nettle 50% and New Zealand wool 50%. Handwoven on a traditional handloom in Nepal. We import the wool from New Zealand, as it is known for its quality & best practices with regards to sustainability. This heavy woven fabric is ideal for furnishings, bags or jackets, crafting etc. It is slightly coarse to the touch like hessian or jute, but nettle is a much finer yarn and the wool creates a very warm fabric which close knit makes it very similar to Harris Tweed.

DETAILS & PROVENANCE
Growing wild in the eastern hills of Nepal between 1200 and 3000 metres, the Himalayan Giant Nettle has been used for generations around homesteads in Nepal to make fishing nets, ropes, mats, sacks, bags and waistcoats. The nettle fibre has been handpicked, processed in the traditional Nepali methods, hand spun, dyed and weaved together with a diamond pattern on a traditional jacquard handloom. This is a rare fabric of high quality, beautifully and lovingly made by highly skilled weavers in the Nepali Himalayas.
