The Hemp Helper - Plastic Free Sponge

Introducing 'The Hemp Helper', handmade in Nepal the exterior is made from wild Nepali hemp and flax making it one tough sponge, whilst the inside is filled with 100% natural coconut coir, giving it it's sponge quality! There is a little hanging loop at the side to hang it up to dry after doing the dishes or cleaning the bathroom etc. Make the switch from regular sponges which let loose micro plastics down the sink and into our water each time you wash up, to a reusable and ultra eco friendly sponge.

Why buy wild Nepali hemp? Picking of hemp is done seasonally in villages sitting at the foothills of the Himalayas. The co-ops who pick and draw out the hemp yarn do so by tooth and spindle method. The co-ops are mostly made up of women from the farming villages. Once the hemp is harvested it is in the rainy season when there is no farm-work outside to be done that the women will sit inside and spin the yarn and make cloth from hemp (as well as nettle). Locals have been working with the hemp plant like this for hundreds, possibly thousands of years. It is in our humble opinion that helping sustain this ancient and environmentally conscious way of hemp farming is worthwhile and will prove extremely valuable for future generations. Hemp is also naturally antibacterial, anti-fungal, water resistant, incredibly durable and hard wearing. Gentle on the earth it grows without the need for chemicals and actually replenishes the soil.
